Engaged on a Design and Construct contract to accelerate the programme, OPRA Projects performed 34 automatic door installations. Works included all associated infrastructure in 24 buildings across multiple locations for Curtin University. Works also included installation of DDA compliant security access control upgrades to new Curtin standards.
Since the university remained operational during the installations, the project required a significant degree of stakeholder engagement with Curtin University and OPRA Projects’ engaged consultants, security teams and, of course, Dorma, the automatic door supplier. Indirectly, OPRA Projects were required to understand the requirements of, and work with, internal Curtin Safety, Fire, Electrical and Communications departments and Faculty members.
Integrating works into a live environment and having each door offline for the shortest time was critical. Coordinating alternative access and communication to building users sought to achieve as minimal disruption as possible.
