Icon Oncology Treatment Facility, Midland

The Icon Oncology Treatment Centre is a class 9a Private Hospital and has been constructed to meet the strict requirements of its classification. The project is LARU commissioned.

Complete in just 18 weeks, the project includes 38 separate rooms of varying capacities, from consultation rooms, pharmacy, tea preparation and reception, right through to treatment rooms, procedure rooms and the Veritas linear accelerator bunker constructed on the ground floor. The bunker has specific materials and installation ratings to accommodate for radiation therapy.

A significant Mechanical Services package included a chiller for the Varian linear accelerator and a system with air and temperature controls for each consulting room. The two-story facility was the first Icon facility in Western Australia and is built within the outer shell of the heritage listed Midland Railway Workshops, which bought about additional considerations to how the facility was constructed.
