South32 embarked on a project to test a floor plate with several different working styles. Fixed low-height, fixed standing, and flexible sit-to-stand workstations zoned across the workspace. In addition, the zoning of the floor includes areas of highly collaborative working on tiered informal and open plan spaces. A multi-purpose room that provides flexible training and presentation for up to 120pax with informal seating and Av capability for telepresence included in the scope.
This project represented a departure from South32’s usual format of the workplace and a test-bed for operational efficiency and improvement. Several different functional groups will use the space over 12 months and test workplace performance. As a result, the project is sponsored by senior executive stakeholders and was regularly visited for progress. The project was delivered on a compressed 9-week programme to meet availability for a project team to occupy.
